National environmental monitoring

Last changed: 21 January 2022

Every year an extensive integrated monitoring is performed to survey the status and health of fish communities. The program includes community monitoring of coastal fish species, measure of reproductive success, growth and physiological health condition, and concentrations of environmental toxins in the indicator species perch and eelpout.

Integrated fish monitoring

National monitoring - Financing
Integrated fish monitoring is a part of the program Data hosting fish. The national environmental monitoring in Sweden is financed by the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management and the Environmental Protection Agency. These agencies also own the collected data. The data may be used unrestricted if the source is specified. More information about the national environmental monitoring can be found on the webpage of the Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management.

Extension

The integrated fish monitoring is performed in four reference areas.

Reporting
Every year fact sheets are produced.

Data export - fish communities
Community and individual data exports are done from the database KUL.
