Welcome to the final workshop organised by the SLU Future Food financed project "Reindeer herding: An indigenous food system in transition".
The workshop engages in dialogue between representatives of indigenous organisations from the Nordic countries and academics on concerns of food security and food sovereignty.
The presentations cover five main topics:
Key note speaker will be Dawn Morrison from the Secwepemc Nation and Director for the Working Group on Indigenous Food Sovereignty from Vancouver, Canada and Lena Maria Nilsson Associate professor, Department of Epidemiology and global health, Lávvuo - Research and Education for Sámi health, Umeå University.
The seminar is a final workshop within the project An indigenous food system in transition financed by SLU Future Food. Project leader is Ildikó Asztalos Morell. The aim of the project is to identify through collaborative methods, alternative ways for reindeer herders to process and market their products and interact with consumers. But also to increase the awareness and knowhow about traditional food systems and their importance to Nordic food security for the wider public.
The workshop is collaboration between the project group and Slow Food Sápmi.
