Jan Bengtsson
Min forskning handlar om biologisk mångfald, ekosystemtjänster och organismsamhällens ekologi i produktionsekosystem och -landskap (jordbruk och skog), och om kopplingen mellan populations/samhälls-ekologi och ekosystemprocesser, såväl i teori som i empiriska studier och i tillämpade sammanhang. Jag var också medlem i styrgruppen för Framtidens Lantbruk 2009-2017, som bl.a. arbetade med framtidsscenarier, och därför numera också intresserad av framtidsfrågor, hållbar utveckling och naturresursförvaltning från ett ekologiskt och tvärvetenskapligt perspektiv. Jag kommer att under 2020-23 medverka i det nya programmet Mistra Food Futures scenarioarbete. Under Covid-19 nås jag enklast på min e-post-adress.

Presentation

Jag började med att studera metapopulationsynamik och artinteraktioner hos vattenloppor (Daphnia) under 1980-talet. Sedan jag började på SLU 1989 har jag, tack vare mina eminenta och kunniga medarbetare och doktorander, framför allt studerat biologisk mångfald och ekosystemtjänster (huvudsakligen biologisk kontroll av skadegörare och pollinering, samt produktion och markens biologi) i jordbruks- och skogslandskapet, rumslig variation i markdjurs-samhällen, hur brand påverkar markorganismer, och hoppstjärtars (Collembola) diversitetsmönster och ekosystemprocesser i Sydafrikas megadiversa Fynbos-biom. Vi har studerat hur viktig den vanliga biologiska mångfalden är för ekosystemens funktion, hur man kan förvalta landskap för att bevara och sköta biologisk mångfald och ekosystemtjänster, avvägningar mellan olika ekosystemtjänster, scenarier för framtidens jordbruk, ekologisk hållbarhet, m.m.
