Contagious animal diseases pose a constant threat to global food production, but also to food safety, public health, rural livelihood, international trade and animal welfare. Antimicrobial resistance, as a consequence of use and mis-use of antimicrobials, is a global threat for animal and public health.

CGD

  • Communicates expertise, ongoing research and related activities about Transboundary Animal Diseases (TADs), other contagious diseases, including zoonoses, and antimicrobial resistance, to university partners as well as to stakeholders outside the academia.
  • Creates a platform for researchers engaged in studies of contagious diseases and antimicrobial resistance of global importance in food producing animals
  • Coordinates and supports research, capacity building and training activities within the area.

Since its start CGD has organised national and international seminars, initiated fund-raising activitites, developed post graduate courses and coordinated research and capacity development activities in collaboration with international partners.
