The United Nations CFS-HLPE Issues Paper "Impacts of COVID-19 on food security and nutrition: developing effective policy responses to address the hunger and malnutrition pandemic" addresses the ongoing pandemic crises and its present and predicted effect on the world food system. The purpose of the report is to provide insights in addressing the food and nutrition security implications of the COVID-19 pandemic and to inform the preparations for the 2021 UN Food Systems Summit.
Shakuntala Thilsted is the Research Program Leader for Value Chains and Nutrition at WorldFish, stationed in Penang, Malaysia. She is also a member of the Committee on World Food Security's High Level Panel of Experts (CFS-HLPE) and an Honorary Doctor at SLU.
