Food Waste
Food waste is food that is thrown away even though it could have been consumed if handled differently. About a third of all food produced is thrown away, according to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
"If we fix the food, we fix the planet"
FAO, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, estimates that about 1/3 of all food produced for human consumption is thrown away. Radically reducing eating habits and losses in the food chain is one of the three most important measures we can take in the food system to cope with humanity within the planetary limits. As the SLU alumni Johan Rockström says in his new cookbook Eat Good: Recipes that change the world: "If we fix the food, we fix the planet"
