Welcome to the Open Meeting of the SLU Forest Damage Centre on 19-20 January at the Aronsborg conference centre in Bålsta. The meeting is open to anyone interested in the field of forest damage who is located in Sweden. Registration is now closed.
The aim of the conference is:
To further develop cooperation between academia and the rest of society in order to jointly prepare forests against forest damage
- identify and discuss knowledge needs on forest damage and possible ways forward,
- communicate what the SLU Forest Damage Centre has done so far,
- develop contacts between researchers and the rest of society.
Desired outcome:
- Increased involvement in problem formulation and ways forward for the SLU Forest Damage Centre
- A common starting point to drive knowledge and methodology development forward
- To have a clearer picture of the activities at SLU Forest Damage Centre and how one can benefit and contribute
- Increased knowledge on how to take forest damage issues forward
- Developed networks

- Three inspirational lectures
- Frida Carlstedt, Swedish Forest Agency (Skogsstyrelsen)
- Kristina Blennow, Professor of Landscape Planning, SLU
- Anders Broby, Swedish Environmental Protection Agency (Naturvårdsverket)
- Discussion on forest damage challenges from a climate change perspective and the synergies needed to address them
- Conclusion of the conference. This is what we will take home with us!
