On January 1, 2017, this research project was initiated, which aims to describe the factors that contributed to the process where the Yara N sensor has evolved from a tool used by a few farmers to be a well-known decision support used by farmers, advisors and authorities. The Yara N sensor makes it possible to vary the nitrogen yield while spreading the manure, so that each part of the field receives a customized nitrogen give.

What happened between 1998 and 2016 that led to the technology being widely implemented? How have various factors interacted during the process to create the unprecedented increase in other countries? The project aims to, using the example Of Yara N sensor and theories from advisory and innovation research, describe and understand what is required for new technology to be widely accepted.

The project is carried out using a combination of quantitative and qualitative methods.
