SLU Urban Futures arranges conferences, webinars and other activities with the aim of developing and strengthening transdisciplinary research and collaboration for sustainable urban development, often in collaboration with the other three Future Platforms.

Getting our Cities Right #1 - Summaries

In June 2022, the first conference in the Getting our Cities Right series was arranged at Campus Ultuna in Uppsala. International speakers from a variety of disciplines reflected on practices, policies, and processes that shape urban transformation, with an extra focus on sustainable urban food systems. The fourth conference in the 'Getting our Cities Right' series took place in Alnarp and Botildenborg, in November 2024. In two keynote sessions and two workshop sessions we explored how complex sustainability challenges manifest across urban landscapes.

Urban Health – Diverse perspectives on health in urban settings

How can we understand the term Urban Healthscapes? SLU Urban Futures and SLU Future One Health teamed up in an Urban Health webinar in January 2024, aiming to bring together diverse perspectives on health in urban settings. Watch the recording of the webinar!

In part two of the Urban Health webinar series we continue to explore the concept of 'Urban Healthscapes'. We investigate how the design of urban landscapes and urban planning affects our well-being and our health.

Urban Forests on SLU Play

Since 2021, SLU Urban Futures and SLU Future Forests have been co-arranging a webinar series about urban forests, where different perspectives, areas of knowledge and research are presented. Climate conversations at SLU

SLU Global and SLU’s four Future Platforms promote scientific climate conversations at SLU, across disciplines at SLU. There are webinars and seminars open for all and some events for SLU staff only.

Lunch webinars on interdisciplinarity

SLU and the future platforms are organizing a series of webinars on interdisciplinary work. The webinars are open to anyone who wants to increase their knowledge and insights about interdisciplinary work. Find upcoming and recorded webinars here.

A researcher residency in the spirit of interdisciplinarity

For the third year, SLU's Future Platforms invited SLU researchers to a research residency to discuss interdisciplinarity – a competence in itself. The focus was on the environment and sustainability in relation to forests, food, health and urban landscapes.

Urban Forum

SLU Urban Futures and Urban Arena at Lund University have been co-hosting physical and digital events where practice meets academia.

The Almedal Week

SLU Urban Futures participated in the Almedalen Week 2017-2019, where we arranged seminars focusing on future scenarios, cars in urban development and domestic wastewater.
