Urban Forum - Practice meets Academia

After the successful Urban Forum during Lund’s Sustainability Week in April 2019 the two research platforms Urban Arena at Lund University and SLU Urban Futures are joining forces again during the International Transdisciplinarity Conference 2019 in Gothenburg in September. Together we will arrange a place where practice meets academia, for practitioners and practice-oriented researchers to exhibit their work, finished or in progress, tackling urban sustainability in manifold ways.

During the Floor Talks of the Urban Forum | Practice meets Academia practitioners and researchers in the physical design disciplines (architecture, landscape architecture, urbanism, engineering) engage in discussions with each other to refine issues of societal importance for practice and academia. Around 10 project authors will engage with the audience (in English) to bring light to burning questions, critical aspects, inspiring findings, in a collegial atmosphere – we are inviting practitioners and researchers to submit us their application as an answer on our call for projects (see template below).

Transdisciplinary research is understood by the organisers of the International Transdisciplinarity Conference 2019 as co-producing and integrating knowledge and expertise from a variety of sources, including communities, research, cities and businesses, while crossing boundaries between academia and practice. It is an approach that is driven by the need to create processes where values and transformations towards a more just and sustainable society are openly debated.
