Nils Fall is professor of veterinary epidemiology since 15 December 2022. His inauguration lecture will be held in Swedish and has the title "Att applicera epidemiologiska principer på kliniska problem".

Nils Fall’s research mainly concerns production diseases in dairy cows, including sensor-based monitoring, animal welfare and questions related to antimicrobial use. In his epidemiological studies, he uses large existing databases from agriculture, including disease and milking data, but also data from large-scale field studies conducted for other purposes. He is also investigating ways to identify and predict disease and animal welfare in dairy cows using data from all sensor types being used in animal husbandry. Recently, he has developed an interest in how AI and machine learning may pave the way for computer-supported decisions in food production.
