Department of Urban and Rural Development, Landscape architecture Design theory
Helena Nordh is a professor of landscape architecture with a focus on design theory since 1 June 2023. Her inauguration lecture has the title "Grönytor i stadsmiljö: en fråga om liv och död".
Helena Nordh's research concerns urban green spaces at various scales. She explores how the green urban landscape, often designed by landscape architects, is experienced and used by different target groups. She is interested in questions about green space qualities and functions. A special interest among the green spaces are cemeteries and how they can be developed to meet changes in burial practices, migration to larger cities and multicultural societies. A driving force in her research is to contribute to supportive and health-promoting outdoor environments for the city's residents.
