Anton Grafström is a professor of forest inventory and sampling since 1 November 2004. His inauguration lecture has the title "Urval, slump och miljöövervakning".

Anton Grafström’s research develops statistical methods for collecting and analysing data, especially in environmental monitoring. The choice of sampling method is particularly important in this area, as collecting data in the field is both expensive and time-consuming. The way in which data is collected is crucial for how it can be used and the conclusions that can be drawn about the population being studied. The goal is to create cost-effective methods that provide accurate conclusions.
