About Agri4D
About the conference
Global warming is increasing and 2024 was the warmest year on record. Extreme weather events such as drought, heavy rainfall and flooding, had a severe impact on food systems in different parts of the world, hitting small-scale farmers particularly hard. Meanwhile, Russia's ongoing invasion of Ukraine and the deteriorating security situation in Europe have led to a switch in focus where climate change mitigation is given second priority in world politics. This together with unpredictable climate change politics of major actors and ongoing development aid cuts could increase the vulnerabilities in food systems, especially those in vulnerable contexts. This calls for more action-led dialogue on climate adaptation and on how we can build more resilient food systems, and to enable these dialogues despite the polarized political environment.
The Agri4D conference aims to bridge science, policy and practice to create a real-world impact on global food systems to help achieve the Sustainable Development Goal 2, Zero Hunger.
This conference will take stock of the current knowledge frontier, connect science to policymaking and practice and spark new collaborations among researchers, policymakers and practitioners who are working on the urgent issues of stressors and vulnerabilities within food systems in low income contexts.
The Agri4D platform
The objective of Agri4D 2025 is to discuss science that can contribute to evidence-based policy and practice needed to transform global food systems and contribute to the sustainable development goals.
This year’s Agri4D will focus on nurturing regenerative food systems that are resilient to climate change and have low climate impact, while contributing to social, environmental and economic sustainability. The conference encourages dynamic multi-stakeholder dialogues that can stimulate transformations contributing to eradicate hunger in the world.
The conference will be held onsite in Uppsala, Sweden with some sessions held on a digital platform for online participation.
