Food security and humanitarian agriculture

Globally increasing shocks and crises related to climate change, extreme weather events, and armed conflicts are resulting in a growing need for humanitarian interventions on food security and agricultural livelihoods. Here we highlight SLU’s contributions within food security and the humanitarian-development-peace nexus. From research, teaching, and support on disaster risk reduction and anticipatory action, through to advocacy for academic-humanitarian partnerships.

Task force

SLU will lead a new task force focused on ‘Catalyzing academic-humanitarian partnerships for emergency food security response’ together with the global Food Security Cluster (FSC) and representatives from international humanitarian agencies.

Policy brief Seed systems

A forthcoming policy brief from SLU Global entitled “Enhancing smallholder farmers’ access to high-quality seeds” aims to highlight the importance of social capital in facilitating smallholder farmer access to high quality seeds.

Sida Helpdesk

The Helpdesk for Environment and Climate Change provides Sida with evidence-based advice on environment, climate change and biodiversity in both long-term development cooperation and humanitarian aid.
