Partnerships: Food security

Last changed: 02 March 2021

Food and nutrition security are linked to quality and diversity of agricultural production, productivity, market access and functional value chains.

Reaching global food security under a changing climate requires intensification of agriculture, sustainable in all dimensions. Important aspects are inclusive livelihoods, resource use efficiency, judicious use of agricultural inputs and animal welfare.

Below you can explore examples of SLU's partnerships and research linked to climate change.

Partnerships

AgriFoSe2030

AgriFoSe2030, Agriculture for Food Security, contributes to sustainable intensification of agriculture for increased food production on existing agricultural land; the aim is to do so by transforming practices toward more efficient use of human, financial and natural resources. The programme is developed by a consortium of scientists and science communicators from the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Lund University, University of Gothenburg and Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI).

CGIAR Research Program on Livestock

The CGIAR Research Program on Livestock will seize opportunities presented by rapid increases in demand for animal-source food in developing countries. SLU is leading the Livestock health activities within the programme and is also involved in the livestock genetics and nutrition activities.

LEAP4FNSSA

LEAP4FNSSA is a Coordination and Support Action (CSA) whose main objective is to provide a tool for European and African institutions to engage in a Sustainable Partnership Platform for research and innovation on Food and Nutrition Security, and Sustainable Agriculture (FNSSA).
