The research vessel Asterix is mainly used for surveys in Sweden's large lakes, but the vessel is also well suited for surveys along the coast. The vessel is equipped for water sampling, trawling and hydroacoustic surveys, and on board there are trawls, winches, research echo sounders and radar. Asterix is stationed at the Institute of Freshwater Research in Drottningholm.

The research vessel Asterix belongs to the Department of Aquatic Resources. We mainly use the vessel for surveys in Sweden's large lakes (Lake Vänern, Lake Vättern, Lake Mälaren and Lake Hjälmaren), but Asterix is also excellent for surveys in coastal areas.
