Experimental creek

Last changed: 27 October 2022

The experimental creek was finished in 1996 on Laxön using both detonations and digging to create its current shape. The water comes from the Power plant dam through a subterranean pipeline.

Flow of water can be regulated between 1 and 150 liter/second. The creek can be drained of water so all fish can be picked up for sampling.

Traps upstream and downstream make sure that no unwanted fish enters the system, and that fish in the creek cannot escape.

The experimental creek is well suited for long term experiment where you want to have better control over the fish than in natural river systems.
