Veterinary public health includes several interdisciplinary projects in cooperation with different partners with interesting projects in developing countries with a substantial potential for further development.
The focus of this subject area have been changed from food hygiene to food safety and the human, scientific, technical and economical resources have been enforced. This has created a good platform for further development, in addition to the traditional food safety bacteriology also in the following new promising fields where research grants alredy have been achieved:
-Risk assessment of microbiological hazards has been introduced as a method and addresses issues along the whole food chain.
-Research has also been directed to food borne viruses as well as on e.g. virus survival in different commodities of the food chain.
This subject area is divided in Food hygiene and Epizootiology
