The warm and the clean city 2
The warm and clean the city is developing new technologies and applies various methods to improve wastewater treatment. Meanwhile products such as clean water, biogas, algae and useful nutrients are produced. The use of waste heat from industries, new types of membranes and cultivation of algae allows for improved methods compared to conventional treatment. Two concepts for wastewater treatment have been developed in stage 1. These will be tested and evaluated in stage 2 of the project. The concepts are 'energy positive treatment' and 'compact treatment'. A system analysis of the results will also be performed to calculate the operational, economic and environmental effects on an entire treatment plants and to investigate the possibility of integration in existing treatment plants; and the effects on the energy systems. The project partners represent many different skills and several new collaborations are already underway thanks to the project. Municipalities, researchers and companies are working together to achieve the goals.
The project is funded by Vinnova.
