Can the innate plant defense of rape be used as a biological plant protection agent?

Last changed: 25 October 2023

The aim of this pilot study is to investigate if a pure solution of glucosinolates can be used for plant protection purposes. The solution if a waste product from rape seed oil production and is extracted from the press cake. Glucosinolates have proven efficient against a range of soil borne diseases through so called biofumigation using different Brassica species. But it has never been tested as a pure solution. This project investigates the possibility of reusing agricultural waste streams.
