Using biomass from constructed wetlands for production of oyster mushroom
In this project, we want to evaluate biomass from the constructed wetlands as a substrate for growing oyster mushrooms. Increased production of mushrooms has several environmental benefits and mushrooms are interesting both as a high-protein alternative to meat but also as a food that can be integrated into a recycling concept. In the constructed wetlands large amounts of plant biomass is harvested and carried away from the system. This application is to a large extent based on a recycling perspective and we will explore the possibility of producing a high-quality food from harvested biomass.
The project is implemented in cooperation with the company Ecofungi and Trelleborg Municipality and funded by the Partnership Alnarp and Region Skåne.
