Strategies for control of root diseases in strawberry production
Root diseases are a serious problem in the strawberry cultivation. Binab T is an effective and fast-growing biocontrol agent which has potential to control plant diseases on roots and leaves, and to promote plant growth .
The project's goal was to investigate the possibility of using the antagonistic potential of Binab T to control root pathogens in strawberry crops associated to the fungal genera Phytophthora and Verticillium.
The effect of Binab T in controlling root pathogens was examined on three different strawberry varieties grown in tunnels. Growth and plant pathological analyses performed in addition to studies on microbial profiles in cropping systems.
The project was financed by the Swedish Board of Agriculture (SJV) .
