Anaesthesiology
Description of the field
Anaesthesiology is the doctrine of anaesthesia and various anaesthetic methods. Anaesthesia and intensive care is a relatively young speciality and “The Association of Veterinary Anaesthetists,” is an international organisation working to promote the usage, research, and study of anaesthesia in veterinary medicine. It is possible to earn a specialist degree in the European College of Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia (ECVAA) after obtaining a veterinary degree and at least 3 years of advanced level continuing education. The subject encompasses the main areas: anaesthesia, analgesia and perioperative intensive care, and animal care with anaesthesia and intensive care.
