The departments' aim is to promote good animal management and welfare and sustainable food production with high product quality through research and education on animals with a focus on feed and nutrition, management and environment, ethology and animal ethics, animal welfare and protection.

We are based in four locations

The Department of Applied Animal Science and Welfare is located in four cities: Gothenburg, Skara, Umeå and Uppsala. In addition to our work on a global and national level, we have well-established local collaborations in all our locations. Here, we provide a brief overview of our site-specific activities.
