Biofuels and land use in Sweden - An overview of land use change effects
The purpose of this project is to investigate the current status of knowledge and identify knowledge gaps related to land use linked to biofuel production. We focus mainly on impacts related to Swedish production of biofuels, but following the full chain on the global level including LUC and ILUC might be needed.
We will congregate and summarize the research literature on impacts on the climate, biodiversity, and soil chemistry, but also in the literature on social and economic aspects such as effects on food prices and policies. The project will be carried out in the form of a literature survey followed by a synthesis of the results from each work package. This is a national project involving three universities and two research institutes. SLU will lead a work package covering effects on biodiversity and soil chemistry including soil carbon.
