Short rotation forest and sustainability – development of a model for evaluation of environment and economy
The demand for bioenergy is in the future likely to increase. It is however important that cultivation is done in a sustainable manner. The aim of this project is to develop a model to quantify different economic and environmental aspects when cultivating short rotation forestry. The different aspects will not be weighted together; the evaluation of which aspects are more important will be handed over to the decision maker. The aim is to clarify how cultivation of short rotation forestry affects the different aspects. Based on existing methods, effects relevant for Swedish conditions will be identified and a model to quantify and visualise the different aspects will be developed. The model will be tested on one or two pilot farms. The result will be evaluated and further improvements suggested.
