The research topics, research sub-programmes and planned research collaborations are grouped into 3 Work Packages (WPs), which refer to different aspects of innovative bio-based adhesives. The closely interconnected WPs work towards the BioGlue-Centre’s goals and vision while management activities are accounted for in terms of resources and budget. To maximise impact and ensure seamless collaboration, our communication, dissemination and exploitation activities are envisaged as an integral part of each WP. There are interconnected relationships between the WPs, which contribute with fundamental knowledge towards the BioGlue-Centre vision:

  • WP1. Raw materials & formulations, with a special focus on studying the molecular understanding of adhesion, novel modification routes for various bio-based feedstock materials, and bio-based and reactive crosslinkers to suit different natural binders

  • WP2. Aspects of bio-adhesives, with a special focus on studying interactions with different substrates, bonding mechanisms and adhesive performance prediction

  • WP3. End-use requirements & sustainability, with a special focus on studying adjusted and novel bio-adhesive application technologies and a methodological approach to evaluate their environmental impact

Each WP has a main responsible person at each university with in-depth scientific knowledge in their respective field:

  • Linda Fogelström (WP1 leader, biopolymer modification and crosslinking), KTH
  • Stergios Adamopoulos (WP2 leader, adhesives and microscopy), SLU
  • Reza Hosseinpourpia (WP3 leader, fibre-based products), LNU

Each project belongs to one WP but also collaborate with the other WPs. The project level can be a Master or PhD thesis, a postdoc, or a particular subject for technical collaboration
