Management methods and technology for young boreal forests for adaptation to sustainable forest management goals in a changing climate
The project compiles existing Nordic R&D data for planning and implementing of young forests methods and technology. A joint workshop of project partners for planning is drawn up for future development of Interreg Aurora Regular-Scale-Project 2025-2028. The specific objectives of the synthesis report are: 1) review national current state of young forests, 2) review national target goals of forest management systems, e.g. share of CCF, 3) review of young stand management methods and technologies for different (and many) goals in Aurora region. Synthesis report is used: 1) to determine the scope and level of publications on young forest management in Nordic countries, 2) for policy brief publication for selected stake-holders (forest owners) of recommendations of actions to make in order to meet goals stated in national policies, 3) to report R&D needs (new proposal) 2025- 2028. Also, aim of this project is promote the added value of the new Finnish regions, North Karelia and Kainuu.
