The Swedish forests' climate change mitigation potential

Abstract illustration with forest theme.

The aim of the project is to study the conditions for incorporating climate-smart measures within the framework of sustainable forestry, thereby achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement.

By learning from previous transitions, analysing carbon flows and substitution effects in society based on different forest scenarios, examining the consumption of various wood products, and engaging relevant stakeholders in dialogue processes, the intention is to identify conditions and obstacles for achieving climate goals in harmony with sustainable forestry.

The project will also closely collaborate with relevant stakeholders to identify and develop innovative policy tools and management practices aimed at encouraging forest owners across the country to adopt climate-smart forestry.
