More about Mathematical Statistics Applied to Forest Sciences

Last changed: 02 October 2024

This subject area is concerned with developing and studying methods for collecting, analyzing, interpreting and presenting empirical data in forest sciences.

In our subject area, the methods we develop and study make it possible to draw conclusions based on empirical data that are subject to random variation (in, e.g., time and space), and can be used for description, decision-making and prediction within the forest sciences. We endeavor to advance forest science through quantitative methods and at the same time also hope to advance mathematical statistics through a consideration of forest science applications.

The subject area also offers statistical consultation through Statistics@SLU - an SLU platform for statistical support and research - and provides doctoral and licentiate courses in the research school 'Applied Statistics & Scientific Computing'
