We create knowledge about the deciduous trees in northern Europe and competence for the sustainable use of deciduous forests.
The Department has, together with collaboration partners, initiated a collaboration with the regional forest strategies in southern Sweden. There is a great interest in increased knowledge and understanding of the deciduous tree species. This applies to both fast-growing leaves for a future bioeconomy, sustainable management of noble deciduous trees to ensure high natural values and high-quality timber, as well as self-rejuvenating leaves as a valuable element in mixed forests in the forest landscape.
