Call for working group proposals

The call for working group proposals closed on 10th of April 2024.

The accepted working groups were announced at the beginning of June 2024. You can find the working groups here.

Call for abstracts

The deadline for submitting abstracts has been extended. You now have until the 27th of August to submit your abstracts. You create an account and submit your proposal online. Find more information here.

Due to the extended deadline for submitting abstracts, the submitters will be notified by the beginning of September regarding the approval or rejection of their abstract proposals.

Registration

The first registration phase with early bird price closed on the 22nd of September. You can still register for the conference until the 10th of November but at a higher price. You register online. The delegate fee is from the 23rd of September 5000SEK, and the student fee remains at 3200SEK.

The registration fee includes:

• 3-days participation
• 3 lunches
• 3-days coffee/tea and sacks

The registration fee does not include:

• Travel expenses to Sweden, Kiruna
• Cost of Accommodation in Kiruna
• Dinner during the conference

Dinners can be added during the registration phase and paid at your own cost.

• Tuesday the 3rd of December: a main course for 270SEK.
• Wednesday the 4th of December: a three-meal course for 725SEK. 

Accommodation

Opposite the Aurora Kultur and Kongress is the Scandic Kiruna Hotel and thus the closest alternative for accommodation. In Kiruna, other alternative accommodations may suit your preferences regarding standards and prices. The public transit network with buses can take you back and forth to the conference center.

• Hotel Scandic Kiruna has opened a 10% discount code on regular prices for participants at the conference. Use the code when booking through Hotel Scandic Kiruna's official website. Enter the code PRO10SE. The discount code is usable from the 2nd to the 5th of December 2024. The code is only valid until 30 days before arrival and cannot be combined with other offers.
• Best Western Hotel Arctic Eden has opened a 15% discount code applying to all room categories at regular prices between the 2nd and 5th of December 2024. When booking from their official website you insert the code SALE.
• SpiS Hotell and Hostel has opened a 20% discount code valid on all accommodation types when booking a room between the 2nd and 5th of December 2024 and through their official website. The code is valid until the 2nd of December and/or as long as there are rooms. Insert the code lantbruk.
• Hotell E-10 by First Hotels has opened a 15% discount code on regular prices, when booking any accommodation type from their official website. Venue and how to get there

The 6th Nordic Conference for Rural Research will be held at Aurora Kultur and Kongress and Scandic Kiruna in Kiruna from the 3rd to the 5th of December. The nearest city to the conference venues is Kiruna. You can reach Kiruna by train from Stockholm Central Station (with 1-2 transits) or with direct flight from Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN).
