Requirements for application and admission, as well as additional information about how and when to apply to TRANSFOR-M.

First step admission requirements

In order to apply, the following requirements are needed:

  1. Enrollment, in the current academic year (when applying), in the first year of the Master's programs at the faculty of forest sciences at SLU.
  2. Having passed the first course of the master program.
  3. Fulfilment of the specific host university's requirements as reported in the table (for specific info regarding different countries, follow this link).

Application

In order to apply, candidates shall email the following documents to Louise Tetting no later than January 12, 2025:

  1. TRANSFOR-M application form,
  2. a copy of a valid identity document,
  3. the bachelor's degree certificate with list of courses and grades, including the assessment scale (in English),
  4. a curriculum vitae in English, using the template TRANSFOR-M_CV,
  5. a motivation (cover) letter in English (max 2 pages), explaining reasons for participation. If the chosen host university is the University of Alberta, the areas of interest for research and thesis must also be specified,
  6. 2 letters of recommendation by a professor or employer (of which at least one has to be from SLU) using the template TRANSFOR-M recommendation form and
  7. a proof of knowledge of the English language (if needed and already possessed, can also be sent later within deadline for each host university).

Preferences regarding the choice of the host university are expressed in the application form. The committee, however, can assign the student to a different host university, according to the specific admission requirements of the host universities and to the TRANSFOR-M criteria of balancing the number of students.

Candidates whose applications, for any reason, are sent after the deadline will not be part of the selection process.

Application to the host university (for selected students)

Selected students have to apply to the host university in Canada according to the deadline and with the (by the host university) required documents. Acceptance by the host university also implies the definitive admission to the programme.

Students admitted to the programme will attend the second year of their SLU master program at the host university.
