Plant Biology for Sustainable Production - Master's Programme

Country: Ethiopia

Why did I choose SLU?

- During my application to the Erasmus programme, I had the opportunity to study for my first year at two other universities in Europe, in addition to SLU. It was a bit challenging to choose one university from the three options, especially given the limited information I had at the time. Subsequently, I researched the academic programmes at these universities and discovered interesting aspects at SLU. I was impressed by the courses and their content, which led me to easily choose SLU. Once I began my studies, I found the courses even more fascinating than I had expected. Indeed, my stay at SLU has been a valuable learning experience, and I have gained a lot from it.

What makes this programme special?

- Indeed, it is challenging to pinpoint specific aspects of my programme because everything was great. While I'm not certain about other programmes, I had the chance to take courses from other campuses of SLU. Therefore, I enrolled in courses from the Umeå and Alnarp campuses. It was also a bit surprising to have multiple professors for a single course.

What was the best part of student life?

- Uppsala City offers many activities to engage in during weekends. I have observed my friend participating in various sports activities and social gatherings. However, I am not a very social person, so I couldn't explore this aspect much. Another great aspect of student life in Uppsala that I appreciate is the accessibility of bikes. The city has well-structured bike lanes, even during winter. Because of this, I used bikes for most of my stay in Uppsala.
