Hej,
Detta är en kurs för dig som vill lära dig mer om lavar, mossor och svampar med fokus på naturvård. Den är populär och många som arbetar med naturvård har gått den sedan den gavs första gången 1999. Kryptogamer används mycket inom praktisk naturvård i Sverige och många andra länder.
Utbildningen ger dig en översikt i hur kryptogamers biologi, aktuell forskning och hur de används inom praktisk naturvård. Du får lära dig arter som används som indikatorer och för miljöövervakning samt skötsel som gynnar dem. Under kursen träffas vi tre dagar i anslutning till helg vid tre tillfällen, för att besöka miljöer med många naturvårdsintressanta kryptogamer; i september i trakterna kring Uppsala, i oktober i södra Dalarna och i mars på Österlen. Obligatoriskt att deltaga i minst två träffar.

Objectives
Having completed the course the student should be able to:
describe and explain how cryptogams (fungi, lichens and bryophytes) are used in nature conservation and environmental monitoring;
describe and explain how cryptogams are affected by agriculture and forestry as well as by various environmental changes as e.g. climate change;
identify indicator species and red-listed cryptogam species;
plan, perform and evaluate cryptogam inventories.
Content
At lectures information is given about:
unique features of cryptogams (lichens, bryophytes, fungi) in comparison to other organism groups;
external factors affecting cryptogams and potential threats to them,
cryptogams as indicators of areas with high nature values;
cryptogams as tools in environmental monitoring;
the importance of land use to the occurrence of species and habitats;
methods of documenting the cryptogam flora and the occurrence of individual species within an area;
management and restoration of cryptogam habitats;
establishment of reserves and other protective measures.
Identification of mainly indicator species and red-listed species is practised at exercises. Species and vegetation types are studied during field work and excursions, which are compulsory. Advancement in selected parts of the course’s topic is in the form of a compulsory project work.
Grading form
The grade requirements within the course grading system are set out in specific criteria. These criteria must be available by the course start at the latest.Formats and requirements for examination
Passed written or oral examination, approved oral and written presentation of projects as well as participation in compulsory parts of the course.
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.

Grading criteria
Betygskriterier Kryptogamer och naturvård 2021-22
Betyget på kursen grundas på att höstterminen är godkänd, resultatet från hemtentamen i mars 2022 samt redovisningen av projektarbetet. Ligger du precis under en betygsgräns på tentamen kommer det att vara möjligt att förbättra kursbetyget genom ett väl utfört projektarbete och redovisning. Däremot går det inte att få sänkt betyg. Dessutom är det obligatoriskt att delta i exkursionerna liksom att slutföra litteraturuppgiften och arbetet ”Sofias val”. På dessa moment ges bara betyget godkänd/icke godkänd.
Följande betygskriterier gäller på hemtentamen:
2: 0-49% korrekta svar 0-21, 5p
3: 50-72% korrekta svar 22-31, 5p
4: 73-84% korrekta svar 32-36, 5p
5: 85-100% korrekta svar 37-44p
