The course offers development of skills related to strategic marketing and project management.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
- carry out a project within a given time frame (strategic competence)’. Written and oral presentation of project report where student also take opponent roles.
- use marketing models in analysis in a marketing plan
- critically review data from various sources
- share constructive feedback in an opponent role
Content
Subject-related content
The course offers an introduction to project management, with a progressed understanding of marketing terms and models used in bioeconomy management.
Teaching formats
The course focuses on developing skills. Initially, the course has lectures focusing on marketing analysis and project management. Reflective seminars are carried out as well as an oral presentation of a project with strict time frames. This project is discussed with opponents in the course.
The course focuses on the following generic competencies:
- continued conceptual understandings of key concepts and models
- interpersonal skills in seminars and project tasks
- system perspectives in choice of unit of analysis in the project
- consequence understandings
Collaboration with the surrounding community takes place through
- project task (marketing plan) for a real case
- presentation of project report

Written examination
Passing individual seminar analysis
Project report (written and oral presentation, including opponent roles)
Completed mandatory elements in the course
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
Other information
The right to participate in teaching and/or supervision only applies for the course instance the student was admitted to and registered on.
If there are special reasons, students are entitled to participate in components with compulsory attendance when the course is given again. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.
