Digital Landscape Visualisation
After having completed the course, the student should:
- be able to use digital tools for 3D modelling, picture editing and presentation in order to allow the landscape to be visualised in different stages of the design and planning process.
- have a basic understanding of the technology behind 3D modelling and digital pictures
- have good theoretical knowledge of visual communication
- have up-to-date knowledge of how digital tools are used for visualising the landscape nationally and internationally
- be able to critically appraise the use of digital tools for visualising the landscape

Objectives
The aim of the course is to provide training in different methods for landscape visualisation in landscape design and planning and, through a range of examples and references, create a broad understanding of the possibilities and limitations of digital visualisation within landscape architecture and spatial planning.

Content
The course contains lectures in subjects relevant to digital visualisation of the landscape. In practical exercises, students will work with digital tools and reflect on different approaches. Students will be encouraged to look for new angles of approach to improve the visualisation and presentation of their material. Literature seminars will deal with visual communication and how it affects landscape design and planning. Emphasis will be placed on completion of practical assignments and on theoretical understanding of the subject.
Seminars, assignments and project work are compulsory.

Active participation in compulsory elements
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.

Additional information
Good computer skills and basic knowledge of CAD are strongly recommended.Students admitted to Landscape Architecture – Master´s Progamme 2011-2019 are eligible for the course.
