Varmt välkommen till årets Markbyggnadskurs, alla ling-ettor!
Den andra delen av höstterminen under det första läsåret på Landskapsingenjörsprogrammet ges kursen Markbyggnad, 15 hp. Det är en intensiv kurs som består av mest teoretiska moment men en hel del praktiska också. Varma kläder och rejäla skor gör våra dagar ute ännu bättre... Kursen innehåller mycket schemabunden undervisning och obligatoriska moment vilket kräver en hög fysisk närvaro i jämförelse med många andra kurser. Under fliken Schema finns idag ett schema över kursen som kan vara en hjälp om du vill planera att resa bort från Alnarp under kurstiden. Fortfarande är några salsbokningar lite osäkra, men detta påverkar endast var på Alnarp vi ska vara. Det kommer alltså inte att tillkomma moment.
Kurslitteraturen består av en kurspärm. Denna kommer att säljas i receptionen veckan innan kursen startar. Jag kommer att lägga ut ett meddelande till er, när den anlänt. Räkna med att den kommer att kosta ca 500:-. Övrig litteratur som delas ut kommer att vara gratis. Har du några frågor eller funderingar, tveka inte att höra av dig! Du kan maila eller ringa mig, se nedan, eller så tittar du in på mitt rum. Jag har mitt kontor i den östra flygeln i Alnarpsgården.

Objectives
The aim of the course is to give the student basic knowledge of hard materials in landscape constructions and plant beds as well as its use and environmental impact. Landscape construction in urban environment is also an important part of the course.
On completion of the course, the student should be able to:
account for and evaluate the properties of different hard materials used within the field of landscape construction and have an understanding of their influence on the environment
discuss grading and draining
dimension plant beds according to AMA, a national reference work where exucution and material requirements are described
apply methods and tools for superstructure sizing in order to solve technical landscape construction problems
interpret and produce basic outdoor staircase- and walls-designs drawings
write a concise thesis with requirements formal mainly reference management.
Content
The course deals with different materials of landscape construction based on the appearance, properties and environmental impact of the materials. The materials that are treated are mainly materials for paved surfaces, such as gravel, crushed rock, asphalt, concrete and natural stone, ceramic materials and rubber- and plastic material. Dimensioning and designs of superstructures and plant beds are central components in the course. Through literature studies, lectures, seminars, field trips and exercises are, knowledge of landscape construction, grading, choice of material and product knowledge given. Substructure design drainage and traditional and ecological stormwater management is treated briefly in the course. In the course, a smaller written assignment where layout, reference management and literature search in databases are in focus is included.
Compulsory components in the course are all study visits, field trips, practical exercises and overviews

Participation in compulsory scheduled parts of the course
If a student has failed an examination, the examiner has the right to issue supplementary assignments. This applies if it is possible and there are grounds to do so.
The examiner can provide an adapted assessment to students entitled to study support for students with disabilities following a decision by the university. Examiners may also issue an adapted examination or provide an alternative way for the students to take the exam.
If this syllabus is withdrawn, SLU may introduce transitional provisions for examining students admitted based on this syllabus and who have not yet passed the course.
For the assessment of an independent project (degree project), the examiner may also allow a student to add supplemental information after the deadline for submission. Read more in the Education Planning and Administration Handbook.

The right to participate in teaching and/or supervision only applies for the course instance the student was admitted to and registered on.
