Data description
The KUL database contains catch data from coastal sampling. KUL also stores data from individual sampling of fish from coastal surveys. This can be, for example, sex ratios or data on length, weight and age of individual fish.
Fish survey data are used for fisheries advice and environmental status assessments under international directives. Other purposes of coastal fish monitoring are to track the effects of various types of human activity through recipient control, for example of industry or nuclear power. Reference area sampling is carried out to monitor long-term trends over time in areas of low local human impact.
