Maps: Carbon stock and carbon stock change in Swedish soils

The carbon map provides information on carbon stocks and carbon dioxide uptake for different land types and land uses. Using data and maps on carbon stocks and sinks in forests and soils, municipalities and other landowners can develop strategies to reduce the climate impact of land use.

The maps are available in raster format (geotif) with a resolution of 10 × 10 metres.

The maps can be downloaded via a file server at the National Forest Data Lab.

The map product consists of six GIS layers:

  • carbon stock dead organic matter, i.e. dead wood, litter and organic
  • humus layers (in the Stock_DOM folder)
  • soil carbon stock (in the Stock SOC folder)
  • total soil carbon stock (in the Stock_All folder)
  • carbon sink dead organic matter (in the Change_DOM folder)
  • carbon sink soil carbon (in the Change_SOC folder)
  • total soil carbon sink (in the Change_All folder).
