SLU Forest Map

Last changed: 21 August 2024

SLU Forest Map provides detailed data on Sweden's forests in 2000, 2005, 2010 and 2015. The product consists of different raster layers with data on volume per tree species, basal area, basal area weighted mean height, basal area weighted mean diameter and biomass for the country's forest land.

The volume maps give the timber stock divided into pine, spruce, contorta, birch, oak, beech and other deciduous trees. SLU Forest Maps 2000, 2005 and 2010 also contain data on age. Up to and including 2010, the data are reported for grid cells with a size of 25 x 25 metres. For the 2015 product, the cell size is 12.5 x 12.5 metres.

The map is produced through co-processing of field data from SLU (Swedish National Forest Inventory) as well as aerial images and satellite images.
