The SOL Climate group hosts a (cross-divisional) seminar on Swedish and EU climate policy. Presenting the seminar is Caroline Westblom from Swedish Society for Nature Conservation (Naturskyddsföreningen).
This seminar will give an overview on the current state of play of Swedish and EU climate policy. On the national level, the focus will be on the Climate Policy Framework, adopted in 2018, and on EU level the focus will be on the climate and energy policy framework for the period 2021-2030, adopted in 2017-2018. We will look a little closer on policies for the sectors of extra relevance in Sweden, e.g. heavy industry and transport, given both contribute to 1/3 of Sweden's total carbon emissions each. We will also touch upon ongoing processes on national and EU level, and discuss the likely outcomes of these.
There will be room for questions and discussions, including the possibility to dive into certain policy areas of interest (e.g. forestry, agriculture and governance).
Caroline Westblom is the Senior Climate Policy Advisor at Naturskyddsföreningen (Swedish Society for Nature Conservation, SSNC). Before joining Naturskyddsföreningen she was the EU Climate and Energy Policy Coordinator at Climate Action Network Europe in Brussels. Caroline holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Management and Policy from Lund University and a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Geography from Lund University.
This seminar is organised by SOL Climate group, a cross-divisional initiative with the aim to foster collaborative efforts on research and education related to climate change and climate transitions within the Department of Urban and Rural Development. We would like to break down silos and barriers and foster a transdisciplinary collaborative environment to jointly come up with pathways to transform society and deal with uncertain futures.
