The Committee for Global Animal Diseases, SLU Global and SLU Future Animals, Nature and Health are arranging a workshop on antimicrobial resistance.
Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) threatens the effective prevention and treatment of infections caused by bacteria, parasites, viruses and fungi, and is a serious threat to both animal and human health. SLU plays an important role in fighting AMR with the developing of sustainable systems for good animal health and good production with restrictive use of medicines.
Expected outcome
Expected outcome from the workshops is to identify specific research areas where SLU could increase its contribution to fight AMR.
More specific aims
- To map the current research on AMR at SLU.
- To identify research areas of AMR that needs to be strengthen.
- To find new synergistic effects in the AMR area within SLU.
- To initiate collaborative proposals in different areas of AMR.
- To elaborate on the potential of an AMR hub at SLU.
