Webinar: What are the biodiversity implications of fast-growing broadleaf trees?

There is increasing interest in expanding the use of fast growing broadleaf trees to help society meet climate change mitigation targets. However, there is some question as to whether, and to what extent, native, hybrid, and exotic broadleaf tree species grown under short rotations can contribute to forest biodiversity goals.

In the webinar Jaime Luna, PhD student at the Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre, SLU, and within Trees For Me, will present the latest updates related to his PhD project.

In the project the researchers study the response of different forest-dependent species to the habitats provided by stands of improved birch, hybrid aspen and poplar, which will help unravel the contribution of these stands to biodiversity.

The webinar is held in English, online via Zoom, and is open for anyone interested.
