You are most welcome to the first Crop Production Ecology seminar of the year, on Thursday 18th of January at 15.00, in Tammsalen or via zoom. This seminar is in connection to the recently funded N2CROP project, in which SLU is involved.
Stig will describe and discuss N2CROP, which is a centre for legume innovation funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation. Focus is on legume research and innovation in genetics, agronomics, crop modelling, and molecular nutrition. The vision is to facilitate development of sustainable agri-food systems powered by biologically fixed nitrogen to deliver high quality plant food protein. The centre is a partnership between Aarhus University, the Technical University of Denmark, University of Copenhagen, the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, and La Trobe University.
Stig Uggerhøj Andersen - Aarhus University
The seminar will present new findings on how interactions between legume-rhizobium and rhizobium-rhizobium strains affect the formation of nitrogen-fixing nodules. It highlighted the importance of matching the correct legume genotypes with the right rhizobial communities for effective nitrogen fixation.
The insights gained are crucial for the formulation of effective biofertilisers for legume crops, which can lead to more sustainable nitrogen sources in agriculture.
Marcela Mendoza Suárez - Aarhus University
