The Southern Swedish Forest Research Centre welcomes you to a seminar by Beccy Ganley, plant pathologist and director of Better Border Biosecurity (B3) from Plant and Food Research, New Zealand.

About the Speaker:

Beccy Ganley is a plant pathologist specializing in biosecurity and plant disease management. As Director of B3, a collaborative research program aimed at preventing the introduction and spread of plant pests and diseases in New Zealand, Beccy is at the forefront of global biosecurity efforts. She also serves as Co-Chair of Tauranga Moana Biosecurity Capital (TMBC), further emphasizing her leadership in biosecurity initiatives.

Beccy’s research primarily focuses on foliar diseases caused by fungi and oomycetes in both natural and cultivated ecosystems. Her expertise spans across plant pathology, microbial ecology, disease surveillance and diagnostics, and the impacts of climate change on plant health. With a strong background in both commercial plantation and native forests, as well as the horticultural sector, Beccy has led extensive research projects aimed at improving biosecurity measures pre- and post-border.

With her wealth of knowledge, Beccy offers critical insights into safeguarding forest ecosystems from emerging threats.
