Webinar: an introduction to remote soil sensing

seminars, workshops |

Would you like to learn more about remote sensing of soils? This webinar will introduce you to the technologies and how they can be used. Welcome!

When? 2nd of February at 09:00-10:30
Where? Microsoft Teams (link is sent to your email inbox when you register)
How do I register? Fill in the form at the Swedish version of this webpage.
For whom? Soil scientists interested in proximal sensing of soil, who have little or no experience with the techniques and want to learn more.

What is digital soil mapping, and what are the contributions of remote sensing to soil mapping? What soil characteristics could be sensed and what properties could be measured so far? What are the strengths and weaknesses of remote sensing?

This webinar will provide a basic overview of the most common types of data and approaches, focusing a bit more on satellite remote sensing in the optical range; describing the methodologies, and providing examples of applications.

The webinar is organized by EJP SOIL and will be held in English.

There will be more in-depth webinars/workshops for researchers familiar with proximal sensing later in 2024.

Between 2020 and 2025, SLU is participating in the European research program EJP SOIL, which conducts research, education, capacity building, and communication for sustainable and climate-smart use of agricultural soil in Europe. SLU participates in a total of 17 research projects in the program. The Department of Soil and Environment coordinates the work nationally.
