PhD student Maria Del Pilar Herrera Egoavil presents the latest news from her research project related to how interactions between genotypes and the environment can play a key role in the development of tree breeding strategies adapted to new climate conditions.

The distribution and genetic structure of Scandinavian forest tree species have been shaped by cycles of expansion and contraction driven by historical environmental changes. Through a comparative analysis of genetic data from various Scandinavian tree populations, we can identify patterns of genetic diversity and detect signatures of responses to past demographic events.

But how is this information relevant to modern breeding strategies?
