This course summarizes remote sensing and other digital methods to study a vegetation structure. While the course focuses on forest ecosystems, we will also discuss other landscape elements with layered vegetation.
The course suggests an in-person participation at the Alnarp campus. We plan a hybrid format of lectures intermixed with practical coding assignments and live discussions. We will use openly available but also own collected data for different locations and environments.
During the course, you will gain a competence in:
• Understanding how vegetation structure can be analyzed for many research applications
• Methods to link spatial 2D structure with existing remote sensing products
• Applying openly available 3D data to
• Running a full pipeline of collecting and processing the high-resolution 3D data for a deep analysis of vegetation structure.
